Residence Life
LOVE TO LIVE LIVE TO LEARN
START LIVING…. Webber’s residence halls are first and foremost a home for many of our students. They provide a safe environment in which students can grow and flourish personally, socially and academically and become leading citizens of the University and the wider community. The Residence Halls are located in close proximity to each other, and are on beautiful Crooked Lake. Thus, students can co-relate with each other easily and experience residential life to the fullest. At WIU, a community spirit grows very quickly; hence Student Life is able to encourage and nurture the individual goals of personal growth, academic success and athletic achievements.
At present WIU has four Residence Halls, Grace and Camilla Hall; the former is for male students and Camilla is for female students and our newest residence hall dorms “A” and “B”. Grace Hall and Camilla Hall offer accommodations overlooking Crooked Lake. Both residence halls provide laundry facilities. Cable, Ethernet, and a micro-fridge are provided. Camilla Hall offers shared living space and a private bathroom. Grace Hall offers shared living space and a common bathroom/shower facility. The dormitories are connected to the Babson Center, which houses the main reception area for the campus, the dining room and the Babson Forum Room. There is much storage space for personal items as well as a desk is provided for each student.
In the spring of 2008, two 10,000-square-foot halls opened. Dorms “A” and “B”, include 16 suites, with suite-style floor plans, consisting four bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a half kitchen and a living room. This allows all the residents to have their own private bedroom. The common living room area and the bathroom are shared by the suite mates. Additionally, each hall has 8 private rooms, with exclusive private bathrooms. All of the rooms in the residence halls are fully furnished with a bed, dresser, desk and closet for each resident. A full twin size mattress is also provided. Leather couches and chairs are provided in the common living area, including 2 state of the art micro-fridges. Every resident on campus has an Ethernet connection in his or her bedroom. All rooms are wired for Ethernet connection with Ethernet jack in each room and Wi-Fi access in the common areas of each residential dorm.
Laundry Facilities and Vending Machines are provided. All Residence Halls are smoke free.
Within the Residence Halls, Resident Assistants, a special group of students, are available to their fellow dorm residents to assist in any way they can.
