Teaching at Webber
(last update July 11, 2007)
Thank you for your interest in teaching at Webber International University. Before you contact us regarding this interest, please read this entire page as there is a specific procedure which we follow in evaluating candidates for teaching positions.
Faculty Credential Requirements
We adhere to SACS' faculty credentials guidelines which generally require a minimum of a master's degree from a regionally accredited (or equivalent international) university and 18 graduate hours in the teaching field (SACS Comprehensive Standard 3.7.1) and IACBE's expectation that instructors will be doctorally and professionally qualified (IACBE Expectation B1).
For full time instructors, while exceptional candidates with master’s degrees are considered, we strongly prefer an earned doctorate.
For adjunct instructors, a master's degree is often sufficient; an earned doctorate is preferred.
As a university engaged in the education of tomorrow's leaders, we also value experience. In fact, most of our instructors - both full and part time - have both academic credentials and managerial experience.
About the Hiring Process
We actively seek CV’s (or résumés) and unofficial transcripts on a continuous basis, whether we have an immediate need or not.
When we have an opening – either full-time or part-time – we first look through our résumé file. The résumé file include those candidates who, in the last year, have sent us a CV (or résumé) AND unofficial transcripts and who appear to meet the Faculty Credential Guidelines as stated above. If there are candidates in that file who seem to warrant further consideration, we arrange interviews.
If the review of our résumé file does not result in our finding a match, we then post the position here and, if necessary, in the newspaper and on a national academic job board. We then interview candidates who appear to be a match to our needs.
We only interview candidates whom we are actively considering for a specific position which is currently open or is anticipated to open in the immediate future, and then only after a review of their CV (or résumé) and graduate transcripts indicate that they appear to be qualified for a specific opening. While we understand the desire to “get acquainted”, we are unable to interview candidates whom we are not actively considering for a specific position which we intend to fill in the immediate future.
After interviews, we make decisions rapidly, offer the selected candidate a contract, and inform others who have interviewed of our decision.
Telephoning, “dropping by”, or other deviations from this procedure slows down the process and can have an adverse impact on our perception of a candidate.
How to Apply
If you believe you meet the Faculty Credential Requirements listed above, we encourage you to send a CV (or résumé) and unofficial transcripts today. Even if we do not have a position currently available, this will ensure that you are considered should a position open.

) CV and unofficial transcripts. Please do NOT phone.
