Beginning in the fall of 2008, all new students are required to purchase an account on LiveText. Contact the WIU Bookstore to purchase your LiveText Account. This account will be good for your entire four years at WIU. The cost is approximately $98.
The goal of WIU’s Quality Enhancement Plan is to improve the written and oral communications skills of all students through both academic and non-academic activities. The collection of student writing samples began with the Freshman class in 2008. LiveText is an online e-portfolio system that stores written samples of each student. These writing samples are evaluated by the faculty using a standard rubric. The LiveText system gives WIU the ability to track the writing skills performance of all students. WIU expects to demonstrate an improvement in the writing skills of the graduates over the four years at WIU. Writing samples are collected in the following courses.
