ETS Proficiency Profile Test (PPT)
The ETS Proficiency Profile Test (PPT) is a proctored online test to measure student proficiency in math, English/writing, reading, critical thinking and various topic areas of general education.
All new incoming students take the PPT. The results of the test will provide a baseline to demonstrate improvement in these skills while you are a student at WIU. The results are also used as a placement test for the sequence of courses in English composition and algebra.
All juniors retake the PPT. The results are compared to the scores when the student entered Webber. WIU expects improvement in the PPT scores. Students who fail to reach minimum proficiency in the English/writing and the mathematics skills areas are required to take a non-credit remedial course and to retake the PPT. The fee for the remedial course includes the charge to retake the PPT.
